my first wedding as a photographer

Yesterday morning I woke up with no idea of what the day would hold. A good friend of mine (who is an amazing photographer) called me up and asked if I wanted to be the second photographer at a wedding she was doing later in the day. I, of course, said yes!

It was a ton of fun. I have so much to learn about taking pictures, but despite that I think I got a few good ones.

They had these beautiful bouquets on the tables with sweet quotes.

"Mawwiage. Mawwiage is what bwings us togethew today. Mawwiage, that bwessed awwangement, that dweam within a dweam." (Name that movie)
And yes, the wedding was started with those words.

The meadow where the wedding took place is absolutely gorgeous.

Can I just say, I am really happy with how this picture turned out? I didn't edit it at all. The lighting out there was perfect.

My lovely friend and co-photographer Leah (on the right) and her friend from Alaska.

The decorations were pretty, yet simple.

Weddings don't seem to hold a boy's attention for very long.

The End.

insert witty title here that conveys the fact that these are trip pictures

Soooo.....I realized something.....I only took like, a handful of pictures on the trip that were not baby-related.  But oh well who cares because who wants to see other stuff when they can see cute babies, right? Right. I promise you'll be happy, and even if you're not, there's more to life than that.....don't ask me what. (Name that movie.)

We took a slight detour and stopped at Four Corners. It was really cool, and totally worth the extra time.

A random nice person took this picture for us. At least he looked nice....but ya never know. It just sounds better to say a random "nice" person took the picture instead of a random person took the picture. Ok. Moving on.

Okay, I wouldn't want to live there, but it is pretty in it's own way....

 Old Glory.

My sister is one pretty lady. Oh, and the baby is pretty adorable too :)

 We were kinda-sorta-not-really matching.

We got to see another Uncle & Aunt and cousins, which was really fun. We had a lovely breakfast with them before hitting the road again. We were trying to get a picture of us, but my White Balance was being weird, so we have several dark pictures. This is my favorite cause my Uncle is being....well....my Uncle.

Ah there we go. A normal-ish one.

This was the view from the restaurant were we ate.

Jen was so good with the little ones. It was adorable.

Probably one of my favorite pictures of all time.

A: "Who is this weirdo that's holding me? I'm not so sure about this."
R: "I love you little girl."
A: "Doesn't change the fact that you are still weird."

another adorable little baby

As I said in my previous post, I got to take pictures of two little babies while on the trip. The first baby is my first-cousin's daughter. The second baby (pictured below) is my first-cousin. No, that is not an error in typing or in your eyesight...she really is my first-cousin. My uncle didn't get married till a couple years ago (to this really, really cool gal) and about a month ago, they were blessed with this little girl.

Both of those babies are so beyond precious. And I am so grateful to their parents for letting me take pictures!

an adorable little baby

Yesterday my sister and I got home from a week long trip to visit relatives. Of the three families we visited, two of them had a brand-new baby and I was lucky enough to be allowed to take pictures. And since we all know that you would rather see pictures of an adorable little baby, I will stop talking.

(Disclaimer: The baby in the pictures is a girl, this was just the book that was grabbed for the shoot and I kind of choose the poem without thinking about the fact that it's Little Boy Blue. So, pardon me.)

The End.
(for now)

Five Minute Friday: Listen

This morning I woke up before my alarm. So I just lay there. And listend. And soaked up the sounds.

The sound of birds chatting cheerily in the trees. The sound of my Mom's boats as she walked through the yard under my window taking care of chores. The sound of a cow's moo. The sound of my bed, my own bed, creaking as I rolled over. The sound of a sprinkler starting up. The sound of my Dad getting ready down the hall.

No sound of traffic. No sound of yappy dogs. No sound of a fan whirling above my head.

Just sounds of peace and quiet. Sounds that, to me, are home.

Home Sweet Home

I am home now. The trip home with my sista was great, and it gave us a taste of what's coming because...drum roll....on Sunday, we are going to hit the road for a week and a half to visit family.

For some odd reason I feel like I haven't been home very much lately. But I have been soaking up every second that I am home, and here are a few pictures to prove it. (If you can prove "soaking" something up...)

I'm not sure who was happier to see who.....me or her.

Back behind our house.....Mmmm I love this place.

 Silly Oreo. I missed you.

So I am standing there, doing something, when all of the sudden I feel something on my foot and I look down to see this. Heart = melted.

 Oh yum.

(Stay tuned for trip pictures!)
