Matthew + Emily // 3rd Anniversary

Not many people would be able to get up at 5AM, put on their wedding finery from (almost) three years ago, drive over bumpy dirt roads, hike up their wedding dress to wade across muddy water, and then smile like royalty in front of a camera in the early August morning air that was filled with smoke from forest fires. But these two did.

(Well, Matthew didn’t hike up his dress, but his wife sure did!)

When Matthew + Emily asked me if I would be willing to take their three year anniversary photos, I was more than ecstatic. Because not only did I get to have two of my most favorite people in front of my camera again, I got to photograph one of my most favorite places in the whole world! The gravel bar we were on is in my Grandma’s woods, and it holds so many precious + significant memories for me.

The number three is particularly special to Matthew + Emily, and so being asked to take these three year anniversary photos was just that much more amazing! (Backstory on the number three: they dated for three months, were engaged for three months, and then were married for three months before finding out they were pregnant with their perfect little boy, Isaac!)

Emily, watching the way you love + care for + support + challenge + pray for my big brother brings tears to my eyes. You are such an amazing example to myself and so many other young women, and I am beyond thankful that God picked you to be my big brother’s wife + my nephews (and someday nieces!) mommy. I love you, sweet friend.

Matthew, getting to be your little sister + sharing so many adventures over the years has been nothing short of incredible. I am so proud of the man you have become, and the way you fiercely love + protect your family. Thanks for always being there to help me get a 4-wheeler un-stuck + encourage me when I need it. I love you, broskie.

The two of you are what love songs are written about, and it has been an honor and a privilege to be a part of your lives + to get to capture so many memories for you.

Happy 3rd Anniversary, Mr + Mrs Matthew Straw!
